Band of Frequencies emerged from the fertile Byron Bay and Brisbane creative communities in 2005 and have been generating a ground swell of support and interest from around the globe ever since.

They draw their influences from a wide spectrum of styles and sounds; roots laden, heavy grooving rock and soul merges into ambient acoustics and electronic influences that then meets blues at the crossroads before moving beyond into to dub styles, psychedelia and live drum'n'bass.

Independently free of any limitations, Band of Frequencies have set their intentions on creating the best sonic tools they can to allow complete expressive freedom to exist within their music.

The lads have all played together for years in the internationally renowned world beat group Afro Dizzi Act, playing major festivals such as the East Coast Blues and Roots Festival, Woodford Folk Festival, Splendour in the Grass, the Big Day Out, Livid, the Kathmandu Jazz festival as well as having toured the far reaches of North East India. As artists, their passion for exploring new sounds, styles and music from many cultures constantly pushes the limits of their musical expression.

Sol Carroll fronts the band on guitar and vocals. His distinctive guitar tones have featured in many well known groups over the years including Afro Dizzi Act, the Resin Dogs for their latest release 'More', Banawurun, Soul Prism and The Visitors to name a few. Combined with the rock solid low frequencies laid down by Oj 'the Juice' Newcomb on Bass and Mark Henman's mind blowing styles on drums they form a cohesive and explosive trio. Inspired by Hendrix, The Meters, Graham Central Station, Sly Stone, Miles Davis, they explore the sound of the late Sixties and the early Seventies, whilst flying at the speed of sound into the past's future.

As the rhythm section of the world fusion funksters, Afro Dizzi Act, the members of The Band Of Frequencies have experienced an extreme and diverse range of musical styles and surroundings whilst on their musical journeys. They have toured Nepal twice to appear at the Kathmandu Jazz Festival, were the first western band to play in the north-east India region and were flown in to Dubai to paly at a one day jazz festival. They have appeared at The Big Day Out, Woodford Folk Festival, Livid, The East Coast Blues and Roots Festival and Kuranda Reggae Festival.

The band members are compulsive collaborators and are constantly writing and recording with artists including Junkbeats 20 for 7, The Neighbourhood Groove Collective, Resin Dogs, View From Madeleine's Couch and Low Pressure Sound System. The latter is a surf movie soundtrack collective which is currently making a film called 'Life Like Liquid', based on the relationship between surfing, improvising and life. It will be released in 2006.
